Ronald Withrow and John Roy Young, R. I. P.; Cote et al Day 495 & Counting

This morning the Associated Press reported the recovery of the remains of Ronald Withrow and John Roy Young, two American contractors in Iraq who had been held hostage for more than a year.

It is has been 495 days since Jonathan Cote of Getzville, NY, Paul Reuben of Minneapolis, MN, , Josh Munns of Redding, CA, and Bert Nussbaumer of Vienna, Austria were taken hostage in Iraq. Fingers of all but Cote were received by the American military earlier this month raising the hopes of the families. All were security contractors in the war torn country. Currently the three Americans and Nussbaumer have been held longer than the Americans captured in Tehran in 1979.

Some of the family and friends of the hostages have grown frustrated with the lack of effort by the State Department to secure their release. For a disturbing reminder of just how incompetent and misguided the State Department is, read the following excerpt posted by supporters of the hostages.

Please support the hostages by writing/phoning your elected representatives and contacting the State Department to get these people freed.
