Knee Jerk Reaction to Terrorism
Why is it that each new terrorist related incident is met with immediate denials about the event being connected to terrorism? The latest denial concerns the ricin discovered in a Las Vegas hotel room.
After confirming the suspicious substance was ricin, Homeland Security and FBI officials denied a terrorist link without offering any evidence or rationale.
Given that ricin is highly toxic and that lethal quantities can be as small as the head of a pin, who else would have ricin but a terrorist or a criminal who was interested in spreading death and/or fear? If it is not terrorist related then what could it possibly be? Are we to believe that the hotel was sponsoring an academic biowarfare conference?
It is time that we stop denying that the terrorists are here plotting and conducting dry runs.
